AVALIAÇÃO DO IMPACTO DA DISPOSIÇÃO DOS RESÍDUOS INDUSTRIAIS NA GERAÇÃO DE ÁREAS CONTAMINADAS NA REGIÃO METROPOLITANA DE CAMPINAS

EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF INDUSTRIAL WASTE DISPOSAL ON THE GENERATION OF CONTAMINATED AREAS IN THE METROPOLITAN REGION OF CAMPINAS

Claudia Martins de Oliveira Gonçalves

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: It is observed that the inadequate waste management in different industrial segments generates immediate impacts on the environment and the human health, as well as contributes to climate change. Considering the limitations of final disposal options, it is imperative to minimize, through reduction, reuse and recycling, the amounts of waste produced by these industries. The aim was to identify the contaminated areas of the Metropolitan Region of Campinas and describe the effects on the environment and health. Thus, a research of the List of Contaminated Areas of Sao Paulo State of 2017 was conducted. The results were compiled so as to assess the qualitative and quantitative impacts on the environment and the human health in the Metropolitan Area of Campinas. It is expected that the present article may be used as a management tool by the environmental agencies and public health managers of the region.
