 The competitiveness of cruise tourism The case of GreeceAthanasios Yfantis and Georgios Galanos MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany Abstract: Cruise tourism is a dynamic sector of the global tourism industry. The annual growth rates of the cruise industry remain high globally and growth prospects remain significantly high, giving opportunities for economic growth in parts of the region. The study examines the current situation of the cruise activity in Greece and the competitiveness of Greek ports in relation to the sector in the rest of the Mediterranean. An analysis of the existing traffic of Greek ports is carried out and the institutional framework is examined through the perspective of spatial planning and how it provides the appropriate tools for the development of cruise tourism in Greece.
