Abstract:
Serbian. English. The paper discusses the problems of economic (and national) sovereignty in the conditions of globalization, in which the importance of state borders is becoming less and less. Since the international financial institutions adopted the neoliberal doctrine, they became the main promoters of globalization embodied in the Washington Consensus, imposing neoliberal policies on the countries of East and Southeast Europe (and not only them, of course). The economic results in these countries warn of the inadequacy of these policies and the need to preserve economic sovereignty, that is, independent management of economic policy. Although the possibilities for this are small at first glance, some examples (Singapore and Hong Kong) show that they can be realized.
