Is mandatory health insurance paternalism?
Мария Радева
MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
At the heart of governmental and medical paternalism is the idea of the good, the well-being of the human. The beneficiary is the subject whose prosperity is protected, either through state or health policies containing a degree of compulsion. The participation of the persons in the health insurance system gives them peace of mind that in case of need, for the provided expensive medical care they will be paid by the insurance body and they will not face unbearable financial difficulties. The author seeks an answer to the question why, despite the security guaranteed to the individuals, which is in their interest, they are forced to participate in the health insurance system.
