MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: The Chapter discusses the need for the creation of a single European Capital Markets Union (CMU). Comparative data and arguments are presented, supporting the thesis that the financing of the European economy is too dependent on the banking system and there is a need to increase the share of market financing. The initial Plan of the European Commission for the creation of CMU and its continuation - the so-called New Plan for CMU are analyzed. The effects on the Bulgarian economy are discussed from the point of view of business financing and issuers of financial instruments, as well as from the point of view of savers and investors in Bulgaria.
