Vicente Leiva, Pia Valenzuela and Abrahan Cuevas

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: This research measures the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students’ academic performance, specifically on standardized tests at the end of the school cycle, during the period from 2018 to 2023. It analyzes how the duration of quarantine affected the results of these tests, focusing on the relationship between quarantine time and socioeconomic gaps. Using standardized test data from Chile, lockdown measures by municipality are examined, and their effects on math test performance are evaluated, considering the type of educational institution. The results include the identification of potential disparities in academic performance due to lockdown measures, as well as changes in evaluation methods and effects of self-segregation
