MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: The sources of inflation are explained by different theoretical approaches in the framework of these theories and their basic assumptions. For this reason, prescriptions presented to reduce inflation are shaped according to the basic assumptions of theories. Naturally, the reasons for the emergence of inflation differ for different periods and countries, so the validity of these theories weakens or strengthens from country to country. From this point of view, a hybrid model has been established by bringing together the basic theories that answer the causes of inflation in our study. The study was conducted for the period 2005-2018 in Turkey NUTS-2 regions. One of the most important points that distinguishes the study from other studies is that it is a regional analysis with a panel dataset consisting of 26 regions and 14 years. According to the results, the general level of prices in Turkey is affected by the three channels including monetary policy, fiscal policy within the framework of FTPL, and real wages. However, the monetary policy stands out as the dominant regime affecting the general level of prices.
