Seyed Hossein Mirjalili
MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
Financial economics is an application of microeconomic theory. The concepts of equilibrium, efficiency, opportunity costs, marginal analysis, and tangency conditions introduced in microeconomics are applied in the analysis of financial markets. This book explains how and to what extent financial markets help individuals maximize their lifetime satisfaction (utility) through intertemporal exchanges. In the second part of the article, the content of the book’s chapters is presented. The third part is devoted to examining four topics in financial economics: the efficiency of financial markets, asset pricing models, imperfections of financial markets, and financial derivatives. The fourth part critiques the content of the book. Finally, the last part of the article is dedicated to the conclusion and suggestions.
