Abstract:
This article addresses the multifaceted issues surrounding Iran’s prospective accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). It examines the potential benefits of WTO membership, outlines the procedural requirements for accession, and explores the reasons behind the protracted nature of the accession process. Furthermore, the study identifies the obligations typically imposed on applicant countries, draws lessons from the accession experiences of other member states, and assesses the progress of countries currently undergoing accession negotiations.
