Marco Stamegna
MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
This article examines Italy’s defense spending within the evolving European and NATO security frameworks. First, it summarizes the main EU initiatives with direct implications for national budgets. Second, it presents defense expenditure trends in major European countries using the NATO classification. Third, it analyzes Italy’s defense spending in light of the national budget law and the multi-year defense programmatic document. Finally, it briefly presents several criticisms of the European rearmament plan in terms of its contribution to security and macroeconomic effects.
