MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
This paper aims to provide a general overview of the health care sector reform in Colombia, which introduced the market principles of competition into the sector functioning. Therefor, this article analyzes its antecedents, characteristics and consequences. Relying on the interpretation of the empirical evidence existing about this reform, the present analysis seeks to identify the key features on which it is based. The paper ends with some observations and criticism about the results and the development of the health care sector in Colombia up to 2005.
