Infrastructures and New Technologies

Matilde Mas

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: This paper focuses on two sources of growth that have dominated economic thinking in the last two decades: infrastructures, and new information and communication technologies (ICT). In the nineties infrastructure endowments were considered to be one of the most important drivers of growth, regional convergence and territorial cohesion. In the wake of the United States, the beginning of the century saw a shift of interest towards new technologies. Thus, public responsibility (infrastructures) has moved to private (ICT) in terms of growth with results that are not yet visible in the Spanish economy.
