Comments on 'Comprehensive human development: Realities and aspirations' by Salih, S.A

Abstract: The comments were offered at an International workshop on Comprehensive human development organized by Insaniya University college and IRTI of IDB on August 18-19, 2009 at Langkawi, Malaysia. The main contribution of the comments are that the construction of human development index is faulty, that countries spend proportionately less on human resource development as per capita incomes rise,and that military expenditure has a positive impact on human development. It contains suggestions to improve human resourse development in Muslim countries.
