Wage inequality and education in Metropolitan Lima 1970-1984

Abstract: It assesses the impact of the expansion of educational levels on the distribution of wages between 1970 and 1984 in Metropolitan Lima in Peru. For this purpose it uses a dynamic decomposition of the second Theil's concentration index using data from household surveys. The results suggest that the effects depend on the type of educational expansion and do not necessarily contribute to improving the distribution of wages.
