The objective is to analyze the services sector structural economic transformation in the state of Colima (Mexico) and among its municipalities between 1980 and 2003. To this end, we apply Garza´s (2004:11-14) methodology, which classifies services in the following two general groups: a) services to supply producers and b) services to supply consumers, as well as some other classifications among each general groups. Main results suggest that some municipalities may be experiencing a tertiary revolution based on a growing professional services industry while tourism seems to be losing competitiveness.
