For various reasons foreign direct investment, domestic investment and international trade are closely related. The aim of this study is to gain insights in the theoretical explanations and empirical findings for the effects on inward and outward foreign direct investment on domestic investment and trade flows. The relevance of research on the sectoral level is stressed.
