Polish Financial Institutions: Market Creation and Consolidation Processes

Abstract:
The work consists of four chapters, two annexes and an appendix. In the first chapter the author gives an ordered classification of the subjects of the financial markets, focusing on Polish markets. The next chapter presents a detailed history of the formation of the markets of the Polish financial institutions. The third chapter contains detailed information about consolidation processes in Polish financial institutions. That chapter gives a systematization of consolidation processes in financial institutions and an application of that scheme to Polish conditions. The fourth chapter presents information about measures of market concentration theoretical and those used by Polish institutions of supervision. Finally the author presents his own conception of measuring market concentration the “P”�Index which has been used for the measurement of Polish financial markets. Additionally Annex no. 1 contains a detailed calendar of the formation of the markets of Polish financial institutions. Annex no. 2 gives a presentation of the three groups of institutions of nearfinancial markets: institutions of supervision, institutions of guarantee and institutions of self-management. The appendix presents a graphic view of chosen consolidation processes of financial institutions.
