MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: The European Union Budget is a financial intermediary with which Member States would like to reflect their policy priorities and complied based on the socio-economic conditions of the Union. In this study, the said intermediary is assessed in respect to revenue items. The revenue items of the Union is divided into two groups as own resources and other resources. According to the last decade’s data obtained as a result of the inspections, the GNP share included in the own resources shows a constant upward trend within total revenues of the union. On the contrary, a decline in the Value Added Tax share is noted due to Global Financial Crisis broke out the previous year. It is possible to say that there were no significant changes in traditional own sources and other revenue items.
