A political economy of peace and distributive justice in the era of globalisation

Abstract: A rise in civil unrest across the globe has been observed. Studies have found that economic failings are associated with these civil conflicts. One important aspect of economic failing is the skewed distribution of wealth and income. The ideology of globalisation is found to create and justify inequality and incapable of handling issues arising out of it. To achieve peace in this context, a change in the approach to inequality might be required. This paper contributes to understand the basic ideology of globalisation related to civil disturbance. The paper also assesses various strands of distributional justice related to globalisation and suggests means to ensure enduring peace and prosperity.
