Child Work and Schooling in a Backward Region of Andhra Pradesh, India: Observations from the Field

Abstract: The paper made an attempt present the micro reality with respect to child work and educational deprivation of children in the form of observations made based on the field survey in a village of backward district in Andhra Pradesh. The discussion sheds light on the circumstances that lead to the widespread phenomenon of non-school-going children and flourishing child labour in several areas of Andhra Pradesh. The parents’ perceptions, which reinforce these trends, have also been highlighted.
