Abstract:
Banks in Slovakia are under a strong influence of information technologies. These technologies are redesigning the product as well as the organizational structure. Strategies must also adapt to the information technologies and to their influence on the business environment. Companies often change their strategies because they must get adapted to ongoing changes in the business environment. The companies are experiencing average intensity level of competition. The sector is growing. In the research sample there is a strong usage of information technologies in the banking sector. Banks are using the promotion tools on the internet and so they use analytical tools and realize income generated by the information technologies. Some of them have separate strategy on the internet and in the physical world. Competitive advantage is reached by doing different activities as do their competitors. Differentiation on the internet is based on simplicity. The dominant strategy in the sample is building a strong image.
