Competition, Efficiency and Competition Policy in Tunisia

Riadh Ben Jelili ()

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: Tunisian manufacturing sector plays an important role in the Tunisian economy. It contributes significantly to the Gross Domestic Product, employment, gross fixed capital formation, merchandise exports, and the use of advanced technologies. Accordingly, it has been called upon to play a key role in the transformation and development of the Tunisian economy since the launching of market oriented reforms. The main purpose of this chapter is to investigate the degree of competition, to assess the performance of the manufacturing sector and to examine the relationship between this performance, the competition environment and competition policy in Tunisia during the period 1972 to 2002.
