Abstract:
Accession negotiations between Turkey and the EU have been opened and the screening process has been underway since October 2005. No doubt that one of the most important and potentially troublesome chapters will be agriculture throughout the process of negotiations. Agricultural negotiations have a crucial role both in the overall process of EU-adjustment as well as in terms of its potential contribution to accelerating the process of structural reformation of Turkey’s agriculture. In this context, this paper analyzes the current status of Turkish agricultural statistics and suggests some solutions to the major problems faced.
