Jordan: social protection in a low employment state

Abstract: This article examines the Jordanian social protection system. Part 1 outlines the demographic and social context, including data on the level of poverty and inequality in Jordan. Part 2 discusses the challenges and opportunities facing Jordanian policy makers while part 3 describes the social protection system (including the role of development partners). Part 4 outlines the key issues and challenges in social protection reform while part 5 concludes.
