Abstract:
This article examines the determinants of inequality in the educational performance of Argentine students based on the results of the PISA 2009 tests. By using econometric multilevel models, it estimates to what extent the individual characteristics of the students, their families, peers, and schools can explain the observed inequality in standardized test scores in reading literacy, mathematics and science.
