Old and New Regionalism: A Comparative Analysis

Abstract:
There has been witnessed a great transformation in the world trade over the last three decades. One of the main developments in this transformation is called “new regionalism phenomenon” that distinguish from earlier regionalism. The aim of this paper is to review the major elements of new regionalism that differ from the old regionalism. The paper emphasizes that the significance of such developments should not be overlooked since they have profoundly influenced the nature of international trade relations and the policy choices and behavior of countries.
