Abstract: This study is inspired by determining the scope of the public policy of the city of Medellín in the education component and its impact on the index of quality of life of its citizens. Progress identified in the local development of the city taking as a reference the policies implemented in municipal administrations 2004 - 2007 and 2008 - 2011 investment in education through observation initially mentioned index.
