Abstract:
Quality of life measured by the transportation system of a region becomes a significant variable in the development of individuals, which as a whole reflect the development of a locality. The motivation of this research focuses on the importance of the transport system Metro Cable Line K and impacts generated in the commune 1 of Medellin during the period (2004-2008), a town characterized by high economic, social vulnerability and high population density relative to other districts of the city. It is the city of Medellín, one of the main urban centers of Colombia, where the importance of efficient management of transport management and mobility, thought from the welfare and urban competitiveness, as part of a process of globalization is recognized growing and challenging in terms of market liberalization, the development of its citizens and business development dynamics of the investment community. In the context of competitiveness is then seeks potentiate the different territories in Medellín, through the development of mobility, seeking to generate a positive effect on access to downtown, saving time in commuting, congestion of vehicular traffic, environmental stewardship by reducing gases, safety mobilization and redistribution of disposable income. This is how the Metrocable K line system positively affects the aforementioned variables to generate progress in local development of the commune One - Popular.
