La Banca dell'euro
The Bank of the euro
Daniele Schiliro'
MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
The Bank of the Euro, that is the European Central Bank, is the topic of this paper, since on January 1999 started the European Monetary Union that introduced a single currency, the euro, which in turn will be managed by the European Central Bank. The paper takes in particular consideration what it is said in the recent book of Stefano Da Empoli and Giuseppe De Filippi on the same argument. The main issue that concerns the European Central Bank, discussed in this paper, is that of independence. Of course, as happens on such complex issues answers are not unique. The paper concludes with the hope that the European Central Bank, or the Bank of the Euro, will play effectively and efficiently its role and ensure the stability and growth of the economy of the countries participating in the single currency.
