The Prices in Mozambican Agriculture: Some Observations

Finn Tarp ()

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: The objective of this document is to contribute to an analysis of the prices in Mozambican agriculture with a view to improve the knowledge of this very important area of agricultural economics and to arrive at better informed and more consistent policy decisions. The document does not pretend to cover all aspects at the same level of detail. However, it is the intention to provide a general framework, synthesizing the existing information and experience in order to focus on some topics of particular importance in the present phase of rehabilitating the economy of Mozambique. The document is organized in three main parts: the first gives a general framework, the second analyses price developments between 1976 and 1986, and the third reviews topics of priority importance in the formulation of the price policy for the future.
