Abstract:
This study highlights the intensity and characteristics of child labour in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Mali. The main findings are the following: (i) an overwhelming majority of children works in violation of the international norms as issued by the ILO; (ii) the level of poverty doesn't always influence the level of child labour; (iii) early entry of children into the labour market appears to remain a stable pattern impacted by factors other than education of parents; (iv) finally, the decision of making children participating in the different economic activities are interdependent.
