Internet Licensing: The Software Dimension

Abstract: Software cross-licensing on the internet has very diferent characteristics in comparison to hardware interconnection. The basic aim of this study is to highlight a few aspects of software licensing arrangements. The analytical approach developed here can explain the observed patterns of content of different websites as well as the mergers, reorganization and shakeout that the .com companies are currently experiencing.
