Abstract: The paper analyzes the economic, political and security problems of the countries that belong to the “Enlarged Mediterranean”. Starting from an analysis of the book edited by Massimo de Leonardis this work seeks to highlight the historical profile of Italian foreign policy with regard this important region. Problems such as economic development, youth unemployment, migration, oil, international terrorism emerge from this analysis
