Daniele Schiliro'

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: The paper analyzes the relationship between Italy and the countries that belong to the “Enlarged Mediterranean”, looking to the economic, political and security problems and to the future perspectives. This work seeks to highlight and assess the role of Italy in this strategic region. The analysis reveals the major problems and potential risks involved in the present scenario of the region, such as oil provision, massive migration, international terrorism and at the same time stresses the importance of the economic development. Italy can and must do more to incentivize the development of the region of Enlarged Mediterranean and contribute to its stability.
