Evolution of altruism in the light of behavioral economics

Abstract: The article discusses the phenomenon of selfish punishment and its impact on the evolution of altruistic behavior. The paper presents the basic theoretical models explaining the mechanism of selfish punishment. Discussion of the practical implications of this concept is enriched with numerous examples. At the end of the paper new research hypotheses were formulated and all of them require empirical verification.
