Abstract: In this paper we will first discuss the economic performance of the high growth East Asian countries and the different explanations to be found in economic literature. Thereupon we will try to establish the role of international technology transfer in the economic growth process of East Asian countries, which transfer mechanisms were important and which differences there are between the countries
