Consommation d’énergie et croissance au Maroc
Energy consumption and economic growth in morocco

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
This work is an attempt to answer on the impact and the relationship between energy consumption and the Moroccan economic growth. To do so, we relied on the method of Cointegration and error correction model. The Engle-Granger estimate relationship between the two variables shows that there is a unidirectional relationship of energy to growth, and the existence of a mechanism for error correction term in long-term. Whereas with the Johansen approach (multivariate analysis), we tried to know the impact of disaggregated series on GDP. The results show that there is no return (positive error term) towards equilibrium. This result may be the cause of the existence of energy-consuming activities with low value added.
