Abstract:
The roots of the ecolabel can be found in the growing concern of mankind for the environment. The eco-label appears in the conditions of market saturation when each manufacturer seeks additional bonuses for their goods. This is a way of "courting" the customer to encourage the purchase of a commodity that is environment friendly product. The wide variety of existing eco-labels and declarations created on the basis of a variety of criteria and assessing different aspects of the life cycle give rise to doubts on consumers as to their credibility. This article aims at reviewing and classifying the environmental labels and analyzing the differences between the different types of the European and Bulgarian markets.
