Cooperation between sectoral regulators and the use of regulatory and competition powers in the United Kingdom
Richard Price
MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany
Abstract:
This conference provides an opportunity to examine how regulators collaborate with each other in the UK and compare this with the experiences of our European neighbours. This paper discusses: • the relationship between competition and regulation, as well as the way regulators use their powers; • the importance of independent regulation to ensure that consumer services are delivered efficiently, particularly in the context of major infrastructure investments in the United Kingdom; and • how UK economic regulators work together to improve the efficiency, uniformity and productivity of economic regulation.
