Abstract: Le développement durable est un champ de recherche multidimensionnel et pluridisciplinaire. Les questions qu’il pose renvoient nécessairement à une recomposition d’ensemble du savoir éclaté auquel nous ont habitué les sciences classiques. Derrière ce débat se profile l’épuisement d’un système économique qui est incompatible avec une harmonie vis-à-vis de l’environnement et de l’homme lui-même. Le développement ne pourra être durable tant que l’on maintiendra une économie centrée exclusivement le marché et le profit. Il est temps d’imaginer d’autres visions du progrès humain puisant leurs ressorts dans la diversité même des cultures du monde pour mieux asseoir la durabilité de la biodiversité. C’est en acceptant de penser la complexité, la diversité, la proximité avec les hommes que l’on découvrira toute l’importance du métissage des savoirs et des cultures pour un développement durable. Sustainable development is a multidimensional and a pluridisciplinary field of research. The issues that stem from it imply a global combination of the fragmented pieces of knowledge that shape classical sciences. This debate also introduces the one of the exhaustion of resources which is incompatible with an harmony of environment and of human being itself. Development will not be sustainable as long as the economy is centred on market and profit. It is now the time to imagine other visions of the human progress, based on diversity, including the diversity of cultures, in order to establish the sustainability of biodiversity. Accepting to think complexity, diversity, proximity to human beings is a means to consider the role of knowledge and cultures mixing in the aim of sustainable development.
