L’économie de la grèce: la marche européenne (The Greek economy: the european march)

Abstract: La Grèce est entrée dans la zone euro en janvier 2001 après avoir été, durant deux ans, soumise à une cure d’amaigrissement et d’assainissement. Par des politiques d’austérité salariale et budgétaire, elle a réussi à atteindre les objectifs d’intégration. Les indicateurs économiques (déficits de l’Etat, inflation, stabilité monétaire, taux d’intérêt) sont conformes aux seuils fixés lors des accords de Maastricht (1992). Le prix de cette intégration que la Grèce a dû payer se résume en trois mots : privatisations, financiarisation, chômage. Le résultat est que ce pays, en essayant de changer de monnaie, s’est fabriqué un ensemble d’obstacles dont le dépassement exige la reconsidération, non seulement de ses pratiques économiques, mais de toute sa structure sociale et politique. Dans les conditions actuelles, l’euro ne pourra pas être la monnaie de la Grèce, mais seulement la monnaie que la Grèce doit utiliser. Greece has joined the euro zone in January 2001 after two years of thinning and stabilisation cure. Thanks to wages and budgetary policies, it succeeded in reaching the integration objectives. Economic indicators (public deficit, inflation, monetary stability, interest rate) are consistent with the threshold fixed at the Maastricht agreements (1992). The price of this integration that Greece has had to pay can be summed up in three words: privatisations, financiarisation, unemployment. The result is that this country, by truing to change its money, has built a set of obstacles. The overtake them require the reconsideration, not only of its economic practices, but of the whole political and social structure. In the actual conditions, Euro won’t be able to be the money of Greece, but only the money that Greece has to use.
