Offre d'assurance non vie: une revue de la littérature récente

Georges Dionne ()

No 98-1, Working Papers from HEC Montreal, Canada Research Chair in Risk Management

Abstract: We present, in this article, a literature review of non-life insurance supply. We put the emphasis on the fact that insurers are financial intermediaries that reduce transaction costs in the economy by allowing the protection of agents against many risks and by financing all investment projects. As any risk taker, the insurer must always take into account of interrelationships between risks in its portfolio when offering different products. Insurance tarification must be coordinated with financial investments and participation in non-diversifiable risks must be coordinated with diversification of global risk. Many subjects are discussed, as financial insurance tarification, cycles, regulation, market structures, economies of scale, information problems between insurers and insureds, risk management and governmental participation.
