Abstract: 유럽 경제에서 중소기업은 일자리와 부가가치 창출에서 중요한 역할을 수행 해왔다. 최근 들어 EU와 회원국은 지속가능한 경제성장의 핵심 요소 중의 하나인 혁신성장을 달성하기 위하여 중소기업을 주목하고 있다. 한국정부도 중소기업이 경제에서 차지하는 높은 비중을 고려하여 경쟁력 제고를 위한 다양한 지 원책을 추진 중에 있으나, 여전히 정책 개선에 대한 수요가 높은 것도 사실이다. 이에 본 보고서에서는 EU 및 회원국에서 추진되고 있는 다양한 중소기업정책의 주요 내용을 살펴보고, 우리나라의 중소기업정책 수립과 개선을 위한 사례연구를 통해 시사점을 제안하고자 한다. When speaking of the European economy, small and medium -sized enterprises (hereafter SMEs) have been playing a pivotal role in creating jobs and adding value to products. In this sense, the EU and the Member States are focusing on SMEs for innovative growth as a core element of sustainable development. The Korean government is also eagerly supporting SMEs to enhance their competitiveness. Yet there is room for policy improvement. This report will overview the important aspects of SME policies of the EU and selected Member States. Based on the findings we will make suggestions for the advancement of Korea’s SME policy.
