The Development of China's Medical Instruments Service Industry

Abstract: In China, High-end medical treatment apparatus (MTA) manufacturing is characterized by tightly-wound industrial linkages and usually led by industrial champions, while high-performance MTA intelligent products are connected by the market and driven by consumption to a great extent. In light of these features of the MTA industry, the flows into domestic markets via import substitution domestic upgrade of existing products in the international market could both be conducive to weaning off supply side impediments. The method is comprised by the following three parts. First, to motivate both the upstream and downstream industries in the value chain calls for mitigating the contradiction of overcapacity in the course of elevating industrial level and cushioning social pressure from employment by the optimized development of the real economy. Second, to produce high-performance MTA products requires the accommodation of multi-tiered various healthcare needs, bringing about new social consumption and promoting new requirements in the service sector. Third, to drum up market demand and improve international competitiveness, we should follow current trends of smart manufacturing and smart healthcare, and promote highly advanced manufacturing geared to our international status. The necessity and of forward innovation in high-performance MTA manufacturing will expand in the forthcoming half decade as long as we hasten structural reform, ameliorate atmospheric conditions and implement the policy for development of the industry.
