Abstract: In this article, the adaptative and learning processes are analysed in point of view of both the biologist and the engineer, using as much as possible the same terms. The psychological approach is a synthetic and critical one, the emphasis being laid on the specific mechanisms of each level of orgnisation of the living systems.
