Abstract:
The novel “When Lizoanca was eleven” describes an eleven year old girl’s childhood, Eliza Niţǎ, known as Lizoanca. The story focuses on the girl’s life as a prostitute and as one reads on contexts that led to Lizoanca being a prostitute are revealed. Thus Lizoanca abandons her parents because they treat her violently and she tries to find a father figure in one of her friends. The girl then takes on family behaviors while lacking a role model that she can take after. Sexually, Lizoanca is latent. The novel illustrates Lizoanca’s relationships with the people around her, as well as a series of predominately affective transfers and projections.
