Abstract: This research’s main goal is to observe the informal communication network, the rumours direction within an organisation. What is to be highlighted is the fact that during the „sending” period there are certain distortion processes which lead to information modifications. In order to prove this hypothesis, there were launched two rumours within UPC ROMANIA Company: a positive one – „Every employee of the company will receive a mobile phone” – and a negative one – “All the employees will be psychologically tested and those who will have unsatisfactory results will attend to a one-week-training, eight hours a day”. The used method was structured interview doubled with the observation. The study was realised on a 30 employees pattern from two departments. Following the results’ analysis, it was concluded that the transmitted messages suffered significant modifications, generally provided through the associations created by every participant, on the knowledge basis. It was observed that the message tends to become shorter, easier to understand and the elements which make it interesting, easy to remember.
