Abstract:
The present paper refers to the main applications of clinical hypnosis in psihosomatic disorders: symptom reduction, lifestyle changing and pain control. The autor describes some ericksonian techniques of pain control: direct suggestions, dissociation, displacement of painful sensations localization, symptom substitution, therapeutic metaphores, time distortion, time distortion and self-hypnosis. Clinical studies showed that many psychosomatic disorders can be improved through relaxation or through light trance state. Hypnosis is useful for non-psychotic patients with severe enough symptoms and average level of suggestibility. In case of severe depressive clients antidepresive medication must be used.
