Abstract: The first section of the work describes the trends in the implementation of language educational policy in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods of the formation of Russian society. It is shown that the changes that occur in the implementation of the state language educational policy are not accidental processes, they are determined by objective factors of modernization of society, the formation of a new way of life and way of life, the formation of a certain type of personality. The second section describes foreign experience in the implementation of language policy in various language situations.
