Abstract: Romania has to harmonize its maritime strategies and politics with the EU ones, must promote and defend the maritime values of the European community space. Romania’s strategic interest is defi ned on one hand by its political options that from a political, military, economical, cultural and fi nancial point of view place it in the Western world and on the other hand by the developments and changes that take place in the local and international security area, towards those our country must answer in accordance not only with its interest but also with the position adopted by its present and future partners.
